Grappa prodotta e imbottigliata dalla distilleria Levi Serafino Neive-Alba gradi 52%
The Distilleria Romano Levi (officially still called Romano Levi after his father, Serafino Levi) is probably the most famous grappa in the world. This is firstly because the grappas are seen as the best in Italy. This is due to the second reason: they are distilled in one of the oldest distilleries still in operation in Italy, and it has remained unchanged since 1943. It is thus the only distillery that still uses a direct-fired still, and not with steam or bain marie. The third reason is that Romano Levi almost has become just as famous for his labels. He drew each label of each single bottle by hand, in a kind of "primitive art" style. Because the production was so low, he had had enough time. So there are hundreds of label designs.
Romano Levi distilled until he was 81, until his death in 2011. His assistant who had helped him the last 10 years was asked to continue the distillery, and so preserve this piece of cultural culinary heritage.
