Very rare fish found in an old 19th Century "Cabinet de Curiositées". It is a picnodont initially called Pycnodus rhombus by Agassiz in his 1833 Recherches sur les poissons fossiles. The fish was later renamed Stemmatadus rhombus.
This is an absolute exceptional 19th century found fish that is since ages no longer on the market. A nice detail are the original 19the century labels on the back
