Very rare copy of an important poetry collection. Signed and with dated (25.6.1898) dedication to the famous sculptor Frans Huygelen (1878-1940).
De Nederlandsche Boekhandel; printed by: J.E. Buschmann, 1898. Antwerpen, M.DCCC.XC.VIII (1898); edition of 250 numbered copies: 7 on “Keizerlik Japans” and 243 on “Hollandsch” paper of Van Gelder; this is no. 39 on Van Gelder - 55 pp. - paper cover - 22 × 12 cm.
Jan Eelen (1877-1970) was an Antwerp poet from the group around the magazines Ontwaking and Alvoorder. Like Willem Elsschot, Victor de Meyere, Ary Delen and Lode Baekelmans, among others, Eelen was a member of the literary association Elck wat Wils. He translated a number of works of Maurice Maeterlinck.
