A fine quality English verge movement watch, in wonderful gold repousse pair cases. 1st case with a pair of mythological scene, pierced, fantastic quality, Smooth inner case
This watch is a very early signed Grand. The movement; is numbered (3258), verge cock with flowers, gold hands and enamel dial. The pillars are beautifully decorated.
The movement works well and is clean.
Optically this watch is in excellent condition. Grand was a London watchmaker around 1750, Thomas Grand is listed from 1717 in the watchmakers and clockmakers book by Baillie.
This watch has a hallmark for 1762
