The FF 63 S field phone of GDR manufacture was made since1963 by VEB Funkwerk Kölleda.
The unit can be used in LB and CB networks. A loose dial can be connected, and for purposes of a dynamic microphone, the device (versions M and S) is equipped with a transistor amplifier. The connectors and switches are configured in such a manner that the device can also be used in combination with (shortwave) transmitters and receivers.
The telephone was, among others, used by the “Nationale Volksarmee “(NVA), the “Volkspolizei”, the “Stasi”, and after the unification of East and West Germany also by the German Red Cross.
