The pen recalls the Art Nouveau , an artistic style that Carnegie supported enthusiastically. The clip of the pen is a graceful female figure whose wings wrap around the pen's cap like those of a butterfly. The barrel is adorned with a typical Art Nouveau curly overlay reminding fountain pens of the beginning of the 20th century.
