Innocenti - Mini De Tomaso - 1977
During the period under the ownership of British Leyland Motor Corporation, BLMC, the Innocenti Factory in Turin developed a brand new version of the original Mini that the factory had produced for a long time. The design was Bertone, and the bodywork was a bit bigger, with more curved lines and a practical tailgate. The new Mini, which was based on the technique from the early, was completed in 1974, and the intention was that it should completely replace Issigoni's original Mini, also in England and in other markets. However, less than a year later, BLMC was bankrupt and Innocenti was taken over by industrialist De Tomaso.
In 1976, the Innocenti Mini arrived in a sports edition with the model name De Tomaso. The classic BMC 1275 A Series engine now developed 72 HP. Outside, the body had molded bumpers with integrated fog lights and screen protesters to accommodate the new alloy wheels and a scoop mounted on the bonnet.
This 1275 De Tomaso edition comes not only from Sicily, but the former owner is unbelievably called Montalbano. He is not commissario, but he is well looked after. Everything on the car right down to the rubber mats is kept original. It is absolutely without rust and mechanically there is nothing to delay. Aside from sitting better, driving experience is hardly different from the original Cooper S. It is cornering with willingness so you do not have to drive around the city like a hooligan. The car has only run what's on the KM counter incredible 31,258 km and it's done with full service book. It even has its original sales invoice from new together with lots of other documentation.
