James Basher: who was called a "parasite" by many was acquainted to Grace Jones, Warhol and Mick Jagger. An admirer of the work of Visconti, he became the friend and lover of actor Helmut Berger. The painter David Hockney crunches (sketches) him in colour pencil, and he spends the night talking about the Pope with Francis Bacon. When he gets bored, he leaves with Kenzo to dance in Ibiza or New York. His real project: do nothing
So time passes, and parties as well. He does not cling to his many lovers. Nor to Yves Saint Laurent, who he makes crazy. The rival of Lagerfeld often ends up locked in the closet of Jacques and demands to be treated as a slave. Jacques is planning to become a writer, but his real plan is to do nothing. Even sport bores him, apart from an semi-annual game of tennis (a dandy despising physical effort). Being ironic, he gets himself another tattoo, a crocodile that bites his left nipple: his «permanent Lacoste polo»
