Mandolin, signed - G. Puglisi Reale & Figli - Catania, Italy - 1916
This mandolin was made in 1916 by the famous instrument makers G. Puglisi Reale & Figli in Catania, Italy.
The original production sticker can be seen on the inside which is signed in red (photo 2 and 3).
The Puglisi family started to make instruments in 1820 in Catania (Sicily).
After 1906, the name of the firm became “G. Puglisi Reale e Figli”. (Figli means sons in Italian). Giuseppe Puglisi had two sons, Concetto and Michelangelo who both worked in their father’s company. They made beautiful violins, bows, strings, guitars, mandolins and unique cellos.
The mandolin has various cracks on the front and back (see photos), and so it needs work.
