Franz Schmedding 1805-1881 applied for a concession in Augsburg in 1834 and opened his first business. Only treasures were made for nobility and royalty. He was the director of the guild for several years from 1838 onward. From 1842-1845
his workshop worked on the table decoration for the wedding of crown prince Maximilian of Bavaria, the so-called "Schwanenaufsatz". This three-part table top resides in the Schwanensaal of the castle Hohenschwangau. He also worked for many European aristocrats.

The silver hallmark as well as the punches are difficult to distinguish and are shown as well as is possible in the many photos.

The two forks whose handle is made of 800 silver and the gold-plated skewers have a length of 18,0 cm.

The two salt and pepper containers are made of finest mouth-blown Baccarat crystal with diamond cut and each have a size of about 4.3 cm in diameter, as well as a height of approx. 2.0 cm.
