Unique letter by aviation journalist/expert Hugo Hooftman, authority in the field of aviation from 1940 to 1970.
He joined the Flight Around the World from 21-9 to 21-10.
At that time he lived in Boskoop; this letter also starts with the 27-9 day stamp from Boskoop.
The trajectory was from Boskoop to Schiphol on 27-9, the next day he landed in Egypte it took 6 days before he could continue flying to Bangkok (4-10), 2 days later he arrived in Tokyo, where he had to wait a week for permission to fly to Hawaii.
It was an extremely sensitive matter because of the attack on Pearl Harbour, which caused the flight to be delayed for several days.
Thank to the help of the embassies he could continue flying to Hawaii on 13 October, where he stayed for 4 days; he then continued to Los Angeles (18-10).
2 days later he could join the 3-weekly flight to New York (20-10).
The next day he returned to Amsterdam Schiphol and went back to Boskoop to cancel the letter that same night, on 21 October 1954.
